NS walk around the Elsterberg

This NS walk between the railway stations of Rhenen and Veenendaal West was designed to make it easy to take the train back to where you started. The best part about this trail is that it alternates between dense woodlands, open heathlands and views of the distinctive Egelmeer pond. There are a few steep uphill sections – but when you reach one of the highest points in Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, you are rewarded with a phenomenal view. Given the right atmospheric conditions, the view extends as far as 20 kilometres away.
